General presentation

Most certainly, there must be many of you who wish to experience those special sensations flashing through your mind when the /pole-and-line/pole-line trembles. To experience that magic expectation while pulling up the pole, and that subconscious rivalry among friends about whose bucket is going to be fuller. In addition, if all of this is embellished by the view of calm sea and bathes in the sun, the sound of sea gulls and other birds, then the relaxation is just perfect. The latter is distracted only by the pole when it trembles. There is no greater reward than catching a beautiful and big fish with your fishhook.

Which fish is sweeter and better than the one we catch by ourselves!

You may already be a master in fishing, or eager to learn about or improve your fishing skills. Our programme also offers fishing courses, led by the best masters in sport fishing. Fishing skills will be taught by the members of the Tramontana (sports) Club of Izola, who are multiple national champions and winners at the European and World championships in sport fishing.

Target Groups

• All marine sport fishing enthusiasts.

Programme objectives

Participants will learn the basic techniques of sport fishing. You will gain practical knowledge and skills needed for successful fishing. You will learn how to prepare fishing tackles and about the basic skills to be ready for sea/?sailor skills. Upon practical fishing on a boat navigating across the sea, you will get familiar with the necessary skills for (particular or) individual fish species. And not only that, you will also learn the tricks how to prepare fish in the best culinary way.

Programme

• Participants' arrival in Izola. Depending on the season, the programme starts in the afternoon (about 15:00) to avoid the hot sunshine in the spring. In winter, the programme may start earlier, subject to prior arrangement.
• Reception and welcome to participants at the premises of the sports club, followed by an introductory presentation of the programme course,
• The beginner's/introductory/elementary course of fishing techniques and basic sailor skills (considering the weather conditions, either at the sports club premises or at sea), fishing tackles preparation and the practical fishing at sea,
• Cleaning or deboning of the caught fish and seafood,
• In early evening hours, returning to the shore and preparation of the catch in a homely, typical inn ('osteria'), and programme closing. The socializing evening at the »osteria« may be extended, upon your own wish.

Price: 65 EUR/person

Included in the price:

• The introductory course of fishing techniques and basic sailor skills,
• Preparation of fishing tackle, baits (2 hours),
• Practical fishing from a boat at sea (app. 3 hours),
• Daily fishing permit,
• Preparation and light meal from the catch at an inn ('osteria) (bread included),
• Organization costs,
• VAT.

Option

Upon prior arrangement, it is possible to hire the fishing tackle (tying materials, lead, fishhooks, fishing rod with reels) in the value of EUR 5.

Good or favourable weather is a decisive factor for realization of this programme. Programme is to be confirmed within three days before realization.
